Hello Cadet Nation!
It is hard to believe that we are closing out the month of September today and welcoming the month of October tomorrow. Before you know it, we will be in full swing of another busy holiday season!
After a memorable homecoming event, our football team will get a week off to rejuvenate and address areas of concern before entering into district competition. The volleyball teams have already started district play. They opened district play on Friday against Gatesville. They also experienced a disappointing loss but did not give up and played hard through the final Gatesville point. The Lady Cadets will play in Robinson on Tuesday, October 1st, and at home against La Vega on Friday, October 4th. I encourage everyone to come to support our young ladies as they secure their first district victory.
Our cross country team is gearing up for their district meet at Gatesville on Monday, October 7th. The dedication and hard work of our young Cadets in representing Connally well in the district competition is truly inspiring. Let's show our support for their efforts.
It's not just our athletes who are hard at work; the Cadet Pride band will compete in the Troy marching contest on Wednesday, October 2nd, and again close to home next Saturday in the Midway Marching contest. If you have not heard the band recently, you are missing out. They sound great and look good as they try to perfect their marching competition performance.
Over the past week, Connally opened our math classrooms in grades K-8 to visitors from the Region 12 Education Service Center and district administrators. We visited the classrooms to see how the implementation of the new math curriculum was progressing. Our findings were very pleasing to our educators’ hearts! The students were highly engaged and moving as they learned. It was a delight to see some light bulbs light up in their eyes when they successfully connected with the concept. We were very encouraged and look forward to our students progressing as they grow and learn throughout the year.
We are already looking forward to our next Senior Citizen Valentine’s Luncheon on Wednesday, February 12th. We encourage community members aged 65 or over to mark their calendars for this special event. More details will be shared as the date approaches, and we can't wait to celebrate with you!
Have a great week Cadets!
