Greetings Cadets!
It is hard to believe this is the final week of school before the Thanksgiving break. Students will be dismissed from school regularly on Thursday, November 21, and return to school on Monday, December 2nd. From there, it is only three weeks until the winter holiday break, beginning with an early release on Friday, December 20th. However, several events are going on at the various campuses between now and then. Please make sure you read the newsletter for your students’ campus. The Cadet football season has come to an end. However, the basketball season is just beginning! The Lady Cadets will play at Alvarado on Tuesday, November 19th, starting at 5:00 p.m. with Varsity playing at 6:15 p.m. The boys’ Cadet basketball game initially scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled. They will play their first game over the Thanksgiving break on Monday, November 25th. Their first home basketball game will be on Tuesday, November 26th, versus Bryan Rudder High School. The JV White team will play at 11:00 a.m., JV Blue will play at 12:15 p.m., and the Varsity Cadets will tip off at 1:30 p.m. The soccer teams will appear soon, with scrimmages beginning on December 13th! This week, the primary school students will participate in the annual CPS Turkey Trot at Mac Peoples Stadium. They may need the extra exercise after enjoying the Thanksgiving meal served by the Connally Child Nutrition staff. They enjoyed turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, dinner rolls, fruit salad, and cranberry sauce. The meal served is delicious!
In preparation for the holiday season, the campuses have started the annual holiday food drive at each campus. The classes and campuses are collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations to provide grocery items to families of the Connally community who need assistance over the winter break. All items collected are boxed and distributed to families residing in the Connally ISD attendance zone experiencing economic hardship. Each campus has an incentive for students to contribute to the food drive. Please view the campus newsletters for additional information.
The Connally ISD school board will hold its monthly meeting this evening at 6:30 p.m. in the CISD Administration Building, 200 Cadet Way, Waco, TX. To view the agenda for the meeting, please visit the CISD website. Go to the Menu, and under the About Us section, click on the Board of Trustees link, then click on Current Agendas/Notices/Minutes. From there, click on the meeting with tonight's date and click on the Agenda link to the right of the page to view the full meeting agenda.
