Connally Junior High School Update

Week of 11/18/2024 - 11/22/2024

Principal's Update:

As we move further into the semester, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the support you provide at home. Junior high is a time of remarkable growth and discovery for our students, and your involvement and encouragement play a vital role in their success.

With Thanksgiving and the holiday season upon us, we’re focusing this month on fostering a culture of kindness and inclusion on campus. Through daily interactions, classroom discussions, and schoolwide activities, we’re helping students embrace values of respect, empathy, gratitude, and teamwork. These qualities are essential for creating a welcoming environment where every student feels they belong. We encourage you to talk with your child about the ways they’re practicing kindness and teamwork, both at school and at home.

I’m also excited to share that we’ll soon be starting our annual food drive. This is a wonderful opportunity for students and families to give back to our community. If you’d like to participate, either by donating or by encouraging your child to contribute, we’ll be announcing specific donation opportunities in the coming days.

Additionally, I’d like to remind you of a few resources available to our families. Our counseling team is here to support any student who may need assistance with managing stress, organization, or navigating social challenges. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if your child could benefit from these resources—we’re here to help them through the ups and downs of junior high.

Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. Your involvement and dedication make a difference every day. If you have any questions or would like to connect, please feel free to contact me directly—I’m always here to listen and support.

Warmest regards,

7th Graders Level Up Their Learning with the Lu!

Our 7th-grade students are taking their Texas history lessons to the next level with the Lu, an interactive fitness gaming device that’s transforming how they learn! By blending movement with education, the Lu helps students strengthen memory, improve cognitive skills, and enhance critical thinking, all while making learning an exciting adventure.

In a recent class activity, students worked in teams to answer questions about the Mexican National Era. As they competed against one another, they not only reinforced their knowledge of key historical events and figures, but also had a blast working together and applying what they learned in a hands-on, energetic way.

The Lu uses physical activity to engage students with content, encouraging them to move, think, and collaborate—all while making the material more memorable. We’re thrilled to continue using the Lu to make learning fun, interactive, and more effective, empowering our students to reach their full potential.
