Hello Cadet Families!
This week is the final week of the nine-week grading period. Therefore, it is a great time to check your student's grade book to ensure they have everything submitted as we close out the first grading period. Some guardians may need help knowing where to go to check their student’s grades and attendance. You can access both grades and attendance in Skyward Family Access. This is also where you registered your student at the beginning of the year. There is also a link under the For Parents section on the Connally ISD website. While in your Skyward Family Access, you can view your student’s schedule, grade book, and attendance. You can designate when you want to be notified of absences, missing assignments, or when grades entered are below your specified threshold. You can also request daily progress reports to be sent daily, weekly, or monthly. You can set this up by going to My Account at the top right of the page next to your name once logged into Family Access. You can customize the information you want to receive under the Email Notifications section toward the bottom of your account page. This is a great tool to keep track of your student’s progress throughout the grading period.
I previously mentioned how hard our Cadet band has been working in preparation for marching contest season. I also said they were sounding good this year. Well, the Cadet band had a reason to celebrate this weekend. Last Wednesday, they competed in the Troy Marching Contest and received the highest possible rating of a one or first division. They also participated in the Midway Marching Contest on Saturday, where they were selected to return that evening for the finals. Their next marching contest will be this Saturday in Whitney. The UIL Marching Contest will be at the Midway Stadium on Saturday, October 19th. The district will share more details about the contest next week.
Our Lady Cadet volleyball teams played La Vega on Friday in their third district game. They came out victorious against the Lady Pirates. They will play the Lorena Leopards at home on Tuesday and at China Spring on Friday. The Cadet football team will also take on the China Spring Cougars in China Spring this Friday.
On Thursday, Connally Early Childhood Center students will put on their tennis shoes to participate in the annual Pumpkin Run. Watching these little cadets run as many laps as possible during this yearly event is always fun. Each class is also decorating a class pumpkin this week. Those attending the pumpkin run can vote for the best pumpkin!
As a reminder, today is the last day to register to vote for the upcoming November election. Connally High School has hosted a voter registration opportunity for students who are already 18 or who will be 18 before election day. If you or someone you know needs to register to vote, visit this link to complete the voter registration application: https://vrapp.sos.state.tx.us/index.asp.
The application must be printed, signed, and postmarked today to process it for registration in time for the November elections.
Have a great week, cadets!
