Happy Monday, Parents!
October seems to kick off a busy season of special events and activities. The annual Pumpkin Run is up first, taking place on October 10th. Not only can you come out to the track and run with your child, you can also judge our pumpkin-decorating contest, and grab a snow cone from Kona Ice! The Pumpkin Run is a big fundraiser for our school, so I hope you will recruit family members to sponsor your child! Click here for information about how to sponsor your child for this event!
The second big event in October is our pre-k and kindergarten field trip to Western Belle Farms. Teachers have sent home information about the day. This is a very organized and well-run field trip that the students always enjoy!
Lacy Lakeview Fire Department will be here on October 17th to teach our students important safety tips. Be sure to ask your child what he/she learned about fire safety!
We end the month with Red Ribbon Week. See the flyer below to plan for fun dress-up days each day!
Finally, I'd like to remind all parents that second to safety, our number one goal is that our kids learn while they are here! We want them to leave our school as readers, writers, and skilled mathematicians! The more you can read with your child at home, the better prepared your child will be for first grade. Giving them paper and writing utensils at home is another great way to promote writing skills. You'll be surprised what all they can do! Below is an example of sentences are kindergarteners are beginning to write!
Have a wonderful week.
