Happy Homecoming Week, Cadets!
Although the temperature is not a clear indicator of our seasons in Texas, it is officially fall! Hopefully, the weather will soon cooperate and bring cooler fall weather. Over the weekend, I was amazed when I entered a local retailer to find Christmas decorations available for sale! I then looked at the calendar and realized that Christmas is only 90 days away. However, we have a great deal to accomplish.
As noted in my greeting, it is homecoming week! The festivities kicked off with the annual homecoming kick-off dance this past Saturday, where the homecoming court members were named.
Freshman Royalty: Kingston Meche and Londyn Richardson
Sophomore Royalty: Erick Hernandez and Kaemyn Gillian
Junior Royalty: Bryan Young and Tra'Niya Womack
King nominees are: Alejandro Lujan, Je'Corey Mays, Isaac Rodarte, Tyrone Shed, and Farrell Warren
Queen nominees are: My'Toria Gamble, Alayna Gonzalez, Alaina Martinez, Caleigh Raines, and Geor'Nhyia Stuart
Throughout the week, students can participate in special campus dress-up days. Please see the newsletter from your students' campus at the link below for the specified dress-up days. There will be a homecoming parade on Wednesday, September 25th. We encourage everyone to come to the parade to show your Cadet spirit!
The football game will be on Friday, September 27th, at 7:00 p.m. You can purchase tickets online at this link. You can also purchase reserved seating tickets at the administration office. We look forward to welcoming many of our Cadet alumni back to Mac Peoples Stadium for the homecoming game against the Athens Hornets!
The volleyball teams are gearing up to begin district play this week. They will kick off their district schedule in Gatesville on Saturday, September 28th. The games they have played up to this point were the warmups for this portion of the season. The last non-district game is at Connally High School on Tuesday, September 24th. I encourage everyone to come out and cheer the volleyball teams on to victory.
Our football and volleyball teams are just some of the ones busy practicing and learning. Our cross-country teams, our band, academic UIL competitors, and all of our students, in general, are also busy practicing, learning, and honing their skills! I have been amazed at the math skills our students are acquiring this year. They are being challenged with the more rigorous curriculum. If you are a parent or guardian of a student in grades K-8 and would like more information on the curriculum or the module/unit your child works with during the school day, please contact their teacher. They have information for the parents to assist and support when at home.
Have a wonderful week!
