Greetings Cadets!
Generally speaking, our high school cadets are very busy throughout the school year. In the past month, our Cadets in grades 2-8 have been very busy preparing for their district UIL academic competitions. In recent years, academic UIL in the younger grades has not been an area of focus. However, we are diligently working to revive our A+ academic skills and bring out the competitiveness in our young Cadets! Connally Junior High competed in the district-level academic competition on Friday, February 7th, at Connally High School. They placed 6th overall with 137.3 points.
6th grade scored 15 points
7th grade scored 57.5 points
8th grade scored 54.8 points
One Act Play contributed 10 points
Our elementary-age students from Connally Primary and Connally Elementary competed at China Spring Elementary on Friday, February 21st. They scored 136 points.
2nd grade scored 12 points
3rd grade scored 65 points
4th grade scored 41 points
5th grade scored 18 points
This is a vast improvement from last year when they scored 55 points at this level. It goes to show that hard work and dedication pay off.
Congratulations to these students and the primary, elementary, and junior high staff members who coached them for these competitions!
Our grades 9-12 students are still working hard to prepare for their academic competitions. The high school academic UIL competition is scheduled for Friday, March 28th, at Connally High School. The district One-Act Play competition will be held at China Spring Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 7th. We will be excited to share their results soon!
Last week, several of our extracurricular activities had to be canceled or rescheduled due to the freezing temperatures. Softball and baseball both canceled tournaments. The soccer teams moved their games up to 2:00 and 4:00 on Friday so they could at least have a little sun blanketed by clouds as they played. They will resume their regular practice and game schedule this week.
While the above teams avoided the bitter cold, the Cadet basketball team was heating up the gym with a playoff win over Gateway College Prep last Tuesday, followed by another playoff win over the Brookshire Royal Falcons by a score of 41 to 28! They will take on the Phillis Wheatly Wildcats from Houston tomorrow night in College Station. Here is the game information:
