Greetings Cadet Nation!
Just when we tasted the cooler fall weather September is supposed to bring, it heats back to being summer again! Although it was hot, I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.
Thank you to all who were able to join us at Mac Peoples Stadium on Friday night. Our Cadet football team's win was a fantastic sight! The Blue Angels also performed a stellar halftime performance for the home crowd. And let's remember our band-they're sounding better than ever this year. They're still working on their marching show for competition season, and I can't wait to see more of their hard work pay off.
Not only were the JROTC members in action supporting the football team on Friday night, but they also supported our community last Wednesday by assisting with the Shepherds Heart food distribution in the stadium parking lot. This month, they distributed fresh fruits and vegetables, including peaches, pears, carrots, cabbage, and frozen strawberries. They also had frozen chicken leg quarters, juice, and lunchable items. The food distribution takes place the second Wednesday of every month from about 3:30 to 4:30 or until they run out. No proof of income is required, and the event is open to anyone in our community. Connally always has a student group to assist with the process, as this is a great way to give back to our community. The next Shepherds Heart food distribution is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
The fall isn't just about football season! Our volleyball teams have been working hard since this summer to develop their skills. The team is young this year, but they are making tremendous strides as they build up momentum from each game. They are working hard to have a successful run throughout district play, which will start at the end of this month. The high school teams will travel to Hamilton on Tuesday and to Marlin on Friday - we wish them luck! Similarly, our cross country teams are working incredibly hard every single day. You have likely seen these athletes doing their workouts as you've come for morning drop off or afternoon dismissal. Their mental toughness is astounding! Both our junior high and high school teams will be running in Axtell on Wednesday, September 18 - I can't wait to hear about their results!
In the upcoming week, Connally Primary School will host a family literacy night from 5:30 to 7:00. Join the fun and learn how to support your young students' reading and achievement at home!
Saturday, September 21st, kicks off homecoming week! The high school will host a homecoming kick-off dance from 7:30 to 10:30. During the dance, the homecoming nominees for King and Queen will be revealed, and the homecoming court will also be introduced.
The next big event will be the homecoming parade on Wednesday, September 25th, starting at 6:45 p.m. The parade will start from the stadium parking lot, make its way to Crest Avenue, and return to the parking lot via Lacy Drive.
We look forward to all the energy and excitement homecoming brings to our schools and welcoming the Connally alum back to Mac Peoples Stadium!
Have a great week!
