Superintendent's Update

Greetings!

I hope everyone had a joy-filled Easter weekend. It is hard to believe we are entering the final five weeks of the school year, and less than a month until the class of 2025 graduates! We will continue STAAR testing this week at a few of our campuses. Therefore, this will be a full five-day school week with ALL students assigned to attend school this Friday, April 25th.

On Wednesday, April 23rd, Connally ISD will offer athletic physicals for all students who plan to be in junior high or high school athletics in the 2025-2026 school year. Those needing physicals should report to the high school field house multipurpose room from 5:00 to 8:30.

Today, six members of the Connally FFA are participating in the Heart of Texas District Contest and Convention. This will be our students' first participation in this contest after re-establishing the Connally chapter. The students attending the contest are:

Sophomores:
John Coker
Maddie Whitley
Alecia Sharp

Juniors:
Jackson Gipson
Atticus Thomas
Malakai Sterling

Join me in wishing them the best in their first district convention!

The Connally High School Air Force JROTC unit will have its end-of-the-year award ceremony on Wednesday, April 23rd, at 6:00 p.m. These students have worked hard this year and have continued their record of being classified as exceeding standards in their inspection conducted by the Regional Director of the AFJROTC. I encourage everyone to celebrate their success!

Over the weekend, varsity track athletes participated in the regional track meet in Bullard, TX. There were three Lady Cadets and six Cadets in the regional track meet. Of these student athletes, five students are advancing to the UIL state track meeting in Austin on May 1st. The advancing students are:

Daniel Hancock- Shot Put
Adrian Rentiera- 400 M run
Adrian Renteria, Jha’Mikal Benson, KD Linville & CJ Evans - 1600 M relay

Please join me in congratulating these student-athletes on their success at the regional track meet and wishing them luck as they travel to the state meet! This is a tremendous accomplishment for these student-athletes.

This weekend, 12 students will travel to Stephen F. Austin University to participate in the regional UIL  academic competition. The students will be participating in copy editing, news writing, feature writing, editorial writing, ready writing, spelling, the Lincoln-Douglas Debate, informative speaking, poetry interpretation, and prose interpretation. I look forward to sharing their results next week!

The regular Connally ISD Board meeting is tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Connally ISD administration building. All community members are invited to attend to stay up to date on CISD business and events.

Warm regards,

Jill Bottelberghe
Superintendent
