Greetings, Cadets!
We have made it to the end of January and it is safe to say that the second semester has started off with a bang! Our students are working hard in all of their classes, and our teachers are matching their enthusiasm by developing exciting and challenging lessons that will help them grow. As I walk the halls of each of our campuses, I am always delighted to see how eager our students are to learn. It is exciting to see the progress that they are making!
On Saturday, January 25, Connally hosted the District 23-4A Junior High One Act Play competition. It was a full day of fun, featuring performances from Connally Junior High, Gatesville Junior High, Robinson Junior High, Hillsboro Junior High, Lorena Middle School, and China Spring Middle School. CJH’s production of “Rue” by Mandy Conner wowed the audience and left a powerful impression on their judge. I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of their work. It is only the second year in recent history that our junior high has participated in this contest, and they are continuing to get better and better!
Congratulations to the following students who received individual awards:
All Star Technical Crew - AnnAlexie Rhoades
Honorable Mention All Star Cast - Adilynn Williams
All Star Cast - Brooklyn Shaw
All Star Cast - Alina Fincher
The company will perform their show one more time in the coming month. Be on the lookout for information about this performance - you don’t want to miss it!
Hosting this event also gave our high school theatre students the opportunity to see the inner workings of the competition. They worked hard to help each of the participating schools feel welcome in our space. They were incredibly supportive of the students and helped make the experience positive for everyone involved.
Our athletic teams continue to excel in both practice and competition. This week, our high school basketball teams will host the Lorena Leopards and the La Vega Pirates in crucial district matches. I encourage everyone to come out and show their support for our student athletes and coaches. Having an excited crowd makes the game experience even better! I encourage everyone to take a moment to review our Fan Behavior Expectations. We want everyone to have a great time while representing the #CadetStandard in their behavior!
I would again like to thank everyone for their patience as we navigated last week’s impromptu early dismissal due to the water outage. I know that having to make a sudden switch in plans can be stressful and inconvenient, and I sincerely appreciate our community’s patience as we worked to dismiss our students. I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to the members of the CISD Maintenance and Transportation Departments, who worked tirelessly to help alleviate the stress of that process.
I am looking forward to another great week with our students! Please take a moment to read each of our campus newsletters to find out about all of the exciting things going on around Connally ISD!
