Welcome Back Cadets!
I hope everyone had the opportunity to rest, relax, and enjoy spring break. It is time to return to school and prepare to finish the remainder of the school year strong!
Before spring break, our junior high and high school track athletes participated in the Cadet Relays at MacPeoples Stadium. Although some junior high events had to be canceled due to the windy conditions on Tuesday, our junior high runners could compete that evening. The high school track teams competed in the field and running events on Thursday. Showing off our talented athletes in front of the home crowd is always exciting!
The high school One-Act Play troupe participated in the district competition on Friday, March 7th, at China Spring Performing Arts Center. Although they did not advance to the next level of competition, they gave an outstanding performance. You have one more opportunity to see the performance on Tuesday, March 18th, at 6:30 p.m. in the CHS auditorium. Please come see our talented students in action!
The Cadets powerlifting team competed at the regional powerlifting meet on Saturday, March 8th, in Gatesville. The team comprised Bryan Young, Camden Durant, Tyrone Shed, Bryen Hooper, and Aaron McLennan. Camden Durant, Bryen Hooper, and Tyrone Shed earned a spot in the top 5, securing a well-deserved medal for their performance. Additionally, Bryen Hooper qualified for the State Powerlifting Meet and will compete this Friday in Abilene. Congratulations to these athletes on their impressive achievements and a job well done.
There are only three remaining Intervention Fridays before STAAR testing: March 21st, March 28th, and April 4th. Students are assigned to attend Intervention Friday sessions to assist them in being successful and prepared to demonstrate grade-level proficiency and the next grade level. We appreciate your diligence in ensuring they are in attendance to receive the additional learning time focused on the areas of need.
Due to the testing windows established by TEA, all students will be required to attend school on Friday, April 11th, and Friday, April 25th. This will ensure there is adequate time for all students to be tested. The district will be closed on Friday, April 18th, in observance of Good Friday.
We still have baseball, softball, track, family nights, and various activities or events on our schedule for the upcoming week. Please check the newsletter for each campus by clicking on the campus links below!
Sincerely,
Jill Bottelberghe
