Connally Early Childhood Center Update

Week of 3/17/2025 - 3/21/2025

Principal's Update:

Welcome Back, CECC Families!

I hope everyone enjoyed some family time and a break from school for a bit! The spring time is always very busy, and this week is no exception! We have several things happening on our campus this week so pay close attention to all the dates and times so that you don't miss out on anything!

We start the week wearing green on Monday for St. Patrick's Day! Wednesday our spring book fair begins. Parents may shop the book fair before or after school with their children. On Thursday we are hosting a picnic lunch for grandparents of Pre-K students. Bring a blanket and enjoy lunch with your grandchild on the lawn! If the weather is not favorable, you may enjoy lunch inside at the cafeteria! This Thursday evening our Pre-k students will perform a few spring-time songs beginning at 6:00 pm in our cafeteria. Immediately following their performance, all CECC families are invited to the Spring Literacy Night in the gym from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm where you will be able to participate in fun activities together. I heard that the Easter Bunny may even make an appearance!

If you have any questions about any of the above mentioned events, reach out to your child's teacher!

Have a great week,

Mrs. Bowling

From the Counselor

Counselor Nuness teaches guidance lessons once a month to every class. The focus of her lessons are centered around a monthly character trait. The trait for the month of March is cooperation. Cooperation is an important skill for our little ones to learn.

Here is a great way to talk about cooperation as a family. Search through your cupboards for some board games your family has not played in a while, or grab a deck of cards for a simple game of Go Fish. Pop some popcorn and have fun playing together! Look for moments of cooperation that you can point out. For example:

● Choosing which game to play

● Choosing who gets to go first

● Handling wins and losses

● Working together to solve a problem

Academic Tips!

We are placing a strong emphasis on writing at CECC! Our students write in journals and our teachers integrate writing into many other experiences throughout the day in both pre-k and kinder. It will help your child tremendously if you encourage them to write at home! Let your child draw a picture of something and then ask them to write a couple of sentences about it. Below is a picture of a student who came to read what she had written to Principal Bowling. We love when our students are proud of their work!

Special Recognitions!

We would like to thank a few of our district leaders who came to read books to pre-k and kindergarten classrooms during Read Across America week! We love our Connally ISD family and are thankful that our leaders love to support each other! Huge thanks to Dr. Hancock, Mr. Pereira, and Mr. Ellis!

Attendance

The best way to get your child off to a great start is to make a commitment to have them at school every day. Good attendance is a strong predictor of future academic success. We are busy every minutes of the day in Pre-K and Kindergarten with learning and we do not want your child to miss out on anything!
