Greetings Cadets!
January brought cold and wet weather, a day without water on campus, and bouts with the flu and other illnesses. Although Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow yesterday, forecasting six more weeks of winter, our area will enjoy sunshine and temperatures in the 70s and 80s this week! However, keep your sweaters handy. As we all know, this can soon change, and we may see temperatures back to freezing before the end of February.
This Friday will be the first intervention day of the spring semester. These intervention days are specifically targeted to help our students grow academically. If your child is required to attend, you will receive notification from their school. The next few months are crucial as we prepare for the STAAR assessments scheduled for later this spring.
Also on Friday, our junior high students will participate in the district academic UIL competition at Connally High School this Friday. We are excited to host the district meeting and welcome area districts to the academic competition. We look forward to seeing our students shine!
Our campus student organizations are getting prepared and excited to host our second Senior Citizen Valentine’s Luncheon. We welcome our community guests, aged 65 and older, to join us for a lunch prepared by our Connally Cadet Culinary students. This year, they will prepare various soups, salads, bread, and desserts! We look forward to seeing many familiar faces and some new ones in our community.

The Lacy Lakeview Little League Association is currently conducting sign-ups for our t-ball, softball, and baseball teams. The last day to sign up is Saturday, February 15th, at the Lacy Lakeview Civic Center. For more information, email lacylakeviewll.org@gmail.com. They do have scholarships available for families needing financial assistance. Don’t miss out on getting your children involved in an active outdoor team activity this spring!
