Connally Junior High School Update

Week of 2/03/2025 - 2/07/2025

Principal's Update:

Greeting CJH community,

Our 8th-grade students have been actively engaged with presentations from counselors and staff from Connally High School to prepare for course selections for the upcoming school year. While it may seem early, we want both students and parents to understand the various pathways available at Connally High, including Hospitality, Business, Health Sciences, and more. These pathways provide students with opportunities to explore future careers and develop skills that will benefit them beyond high school.

Mandatory Parent Meetings
As part of this process, all parents of 8th-grade students are required to meet with a high school counselor for a brief conversation and to sign their student’s four-year plan. If you have not yet completed this important step, please call the junior high office as soon as possible to schedule a meeting.

This is a crucial step in ensuring our students are set up for success as they transition to high school, and we appreciate your partnership in this process!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us.

Looking Ahead
Here’s what’s happening this week at Connally Junior High:
📅 Parent Meeting- Thursday, February 6th, - 4:00pm-6:30pm; if you missed the other opportunities.

On Saturday, last week, Connally ISD proudly hosted the District 23-4A Junior High One Act Play competition. It was an exciting day filled with incredible performances from Connally Junior High, Gatesville Junior High, Robinson Junior High, Hillsboro Junior High, Lorena Middle School, and China Spring Middle School. CJH’s production of Rue by Mandy Conner captivated the audience and made a lasting impression on the judge. I was truly amazed by the level of talent and dedication displayed by our students. This marks only the second year in recent history that our junior high has competed in this event, and they continue to improve with each performance!

A huge congratulations to the following students for earning individual honors:

⭐ All Star Technical Crew – AnnAlexie Rhoades
⭐ Honorable Mention All Star Cast – Adilynn Williams
⭐ All Star Cast – Brooklyn Shaw
⭐ All Star Cast – Alina Fincher

Parent Supervision At School Events

Connally Junior High requires that all parents or guardians escort and chaperone their children to all Connally ISD activities, including athletic games at both the junior high and high school levels. Junior high school students (grades 6-8) must not be dropped off at any event without an accompanying adult present 100% of the time during the event or for the entire duration that their child is present.

6th Grade Science: Exploring Earth’s Layers and Spheres

Last week, our 6th-grade science students engaged in an exciting hands-on exploration of Earth's layers and spheres! They began by classifying different characteristics into the correct Earth sphere—geosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, or atmosphere—building a strong foundation for understanding how these systems interact. Next, students brought Earth's layers to life by creating models in plastic cups, reinforcing their knowledge of the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core. To wrap up, they examined these concepts virtually, allowing for an interactive and in-depth review.

This engaging lesson aligns with TEK 6.10(B), which requires students to describe the interactions between Earth's systems, as well as TEK 6.10(C), which focuses on identifying the layers of Earth and their compositions.

We love seeing our students apply their learning in creative ways! Ask your child about their Earth model and what they discovered in their virtual exploration.
