We hope everyone had a safe and restful 3 day weekend! We have two major events happening this week. Grandparents are invited to come eat lunch with their student to celebrate an early Grandparents Day on Thursday, September 5th. They are welcome to bring in outside food for their lunch or purchase a tray from the cafeteria for $5. Friday, September 6th is our first Intervention Friday of the year.
If you have not returned your child's intervention letter to their teacher, please do so by Wednesday. Remember, attending school on these dates is required per Texas Education Code Chapter §25.085(d), which says: “Compulsory attendance applies to certain extended-year programs, tutorial classes, accelerated reading, accelerated instruction, and basic skills programs.” This means that attending school on these dates is required. Failure to have your child attend school on these assigned dates will result in truancy proceedings.
Students will be assessed during September via our universal screener, MAP. These results will be shared with parents during Parent-Teacher Conferences, which start at the beginning of October. Teachers will be sharing out information soon with parents about signing up for conferences.
This week and next week, students will be participating in the Coin Challenge to raise money for books in their classroom. Our Bookfair Preview Week is next week, with the Bookfair being open for business on Monday, September 16th. Tuesday, September 17th, our campus will be hosting our annual Family Literacy Night from 5:30-7:00. Please save the date! We can't wait to see everyone there!
