Supporting Our Students for the Reading STAAR Test
Dear Connally Junior High Families,
On tomorrow (April 15th), our students will take the Reading STAAR test, and we couldn’t be prouder of the hard work and growth they’ve shown this year. This test is a great opportunity for our Cadets to show what they’ve learned, and we are confident they are ready to rise to the challenge.
To help your child do their very best, here are a few things you can do at home:
💤 Make sure they get a good night’s sleep on tonight.
🍳 Encourage a healthy breakfast in the morning, or remind them that breakfast is available at school.
⏰ Get them to school on time so they can begin the day calmly and confidently.
💬 Offer lots of encouragement—a little motivation from you goes a long way!
📵 Remind them to keep phones and electronics put away during testing to stay focused.
Last month, our students were energized by motivational speaker Aric Bostic, who shared a powerful message about becoming a H.E.R.O.—a student who is:
Honest
Empathetic
Responsible
Optimistic
Aric encouraged students to take charge of their future by making good choices, staying focused, and believing in themselves. His energy was contagious, and his message stuck with many of our students.
As a follow-up, Aric recorded a short video message to remind students that they have what it takes to succeed—not just on the STAAR test, but in life. We encourage you to watch it with your child this evening as a boost of motivation before testing tomorrow and the next few weeks:

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. With your encouragement and our collective belief in their potential, our Cadets are ready to shine!
With gratitude,
