Connally Junior High School Update

Week of 4/07/2025 - 4/11/2025

Principal's Update:

Dear Cadet Families,

As we move into April, I want to take a moment to thank all of our student-athletes, coaches, and supporters for a fantastic year of sports. All athletic seasons have officially wrapped up, and we’re incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and teamwork shown by our Cadets.

With sports behind us, our focus now shifts to finishing strong academically. The upcoming weeks are critical as we prepare for STAAR testing and celebrate our students’ achievements through various end-of-year activities. Please be on the lookout for announcements regarding testing schedules and award ceremonies — we don’t want you to miss any of these important moments.

Let’s continue to support our students as they strive to finish the year with confidence and pride!

With Cadet Pride,

Connally Junior High Symphonic Band Shines at UIL Competition

On April 3rd, the Connally Junior High Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr. Reed, proudly represented Connally ISD at the Region 8 UIL Concert and Sightreading Competition held at Groesbeck High School.

The band earned an Excellent Rating for their concert performance and a Superior Rating in the sightreading portion — a remarkable achievement that highlights the students’ dedication and musical growth.

For the concert portion of the contest, the band prepared and performed three musical selections for a panel of judges, who provided detailed critiques and feedback. In the sightreading portion — often considered the most challenging — the students were given a brand-new piece of music they had never seen before. With only seven minutes to study and rehearse, they then performed the piece for three judges.

Several judges praised the group’s performance, with one commenting, “This group has a lot of talented students and performed very well today.”

Mr. Reed shared his pride in the students' accomplishments, saying, “I am very proud of their performance and excited for their musical growth in the future.”

Congratulations to the Connally Junior High Symphonic Band for their hard work, perseverance, and excellence!

Every other Friday, Connally Junior High students in grades 6–8 have the exciting opportunity to visit the Cameron Park Zoo as part of the Zoo School enrichment program. Through hands-on learning and behind-the-scenes experiences, students explore animal care, behavior, and conservation. This unique program has sparked curiosity, deepened appreciation for wildlife, and inspired many to consider future careers in zoology, veterinary science, and environmental conservation.

Junior high school students (grades 6-8) must not be dropped off at any event without an accompanying adult present 100% of the time during the event or for the entire duration that their child is present.
