Dear Connally Junior High Families,
Since returning from winter break, our students have been hard at work with various assessments. I want to take a moment to thank our students and instructional coaches from the bottom of my heart for their dedication and perseverance. Now that testing is behind us, we can shift our focus toward targeted interventions for all students to ensure they are fully prepared for STAAR testing in the spring.
In addition to their hard work in the classroom, our students recently had the opportunity to showcase their academic talents outside of school. This past Friday, February 7th, our Connally Junior High UIL Academic Team competed against China Spring, Gatesville, La Vega, Lorena, and Robinson. Under the leadership of our dedicated coaches—Mrs. Garon, Mrs. Moralez, Mrs. Bayless, Ms. Garza, Mrs. Chambers, Mr. Lloyd, and Ms. Shields—our students competed against 18 students in each event per grade level. We are proud to announce that some of our students placed in their events and will receive medals. We want to congratulate them on their outstanding achievements!
For those unfamiliar, UIL Academic Competitions in Texas provide students with the opportunity to challenge themselves in subjects like math, science, writing, speaking, social studies, and more. These competitions foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, helping students build confidence and skills that will benefit them beyond the classroom.
We are incredibly proud of our UIL team for their hard work and dedication. As we continue forward, let’s celebrate their accomplishments and keep pushing toward excellence in all areas.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and let’s make it a great week!
Go Cadets!
