Connally Junior High School Update

Week of 12/16/2024 - 12/20/2024

Principal's Update:

Dear Connally Junior High School Cadet Families,

As we approach the most wonderful time of the year, I want to take a moment to send you all the warmest Christmas wishes on behalf of our entire school community. This season is a time for reflection, gratitude, and joy as we celebrate the blessings in our lives and the gift of togetherness.

To our amazing Cadets, you are the heart and soul of our school. Your hard work, enthusiasm, and kindness make Connally Junior High a place where learning and growth flourish. As you step into this holiday season, I encourage you to pause, cherish the magic around you, and spend precious moments with the people who love and support you. Remember that the greatest gifts you can give aren’t wrapped in bows but shared through kindness, laughter, and the memories you create.

To our incredible parents and guardians, thank you for your unwavering partnership and commitment to your children’s education. Your support and care help shape the success and well-being of our Cadets, and we couldn’t do this without you. We hope this season brings you a chance to relax and recharge as you celebrate with family and friends. Whether it’s around the table sharing a special meal, watching holiday movies, exchanging gifts, or simply enjoying each other’s company, may your holidays be filled with love, warmth, and joy.

This Christmas, let us all embrace the spirit of giving—not only through gifts but by sharing our time, talents, and kindness with others. Spread joy to those around you and remember that even the smallest acts of generosity can brighten someone’s day. Whether it’s helping a neighbor, sending a thoughtful message, or simply giving a hug, your actions have the power to make this season truly magical.

As we say goodbye to 2024 and look ahead to a bright new year, let’s continue to hold onto the sense of unity and care that makes our Connally Junior High School community so special. We are so grateful to have each of you as part of our Cadet family, and we look forward to an amazing 2025 filled with growth, success, and happiness.

From all of us here at Connally Junior High School, we wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a New Year full of health, happiness, and endless possibilities. May your holiday season be as bright and joyful as the smiles of our Cadets!

Spotlight:

Mrs. Chambers' 6th grade English Language Arts classes recently completed an exciting and engaging project titled "Friday Night Lights." This project, inspired by a library book of their choice, provided students with a unique opportunity to showcase their creativity while honing a variety of essential reading and writing skills.

As part of the project, students selected a book from the library that resonated with their interests, immersing themselves in its story, characters, and themes. They then worked on thoughtfully analyzing the text, identifying key elements such as plot development, character motivations, and the author’s purpose. Through this process, students deepened their comprehension skills and learned to draw meaningful connections between literature and real-world experiences.

The writing component of the project encouraged students to express their understanding of the book in innovative ways. They crafted detailed summaries, explored themes through reflective essays, and even developed creative pieces such as alternative endings, character diaries, or personal letters to the characters. This approach not only strengthened their writing skills but also allowed them to experiment with different formats and styles, helping them grow as confident and versatile writers.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the "Friday Night Lights" project was the opportunity for students to share their work with their peers. Through presentations and discussions, they practiced public speaking, active listening, and critical thinking skills while celebrating each other’s creativity and hard work. The collaborative environment fostered a sense of pride and accomplishment, as students realized how much they had grown as readers and writers.

This project exemplifies how literature can inspire both academic growth and a love for storytelling. Mrs. Chambers' innovative approach ensured that students not only met learning objectives but also developed a deeper appreciation for the power of books to spark imagination and connection. It was a proud moment for her 6th grade English Language Arts classes, and their outstanding work on "Friday Night Lights" serves as a testament to their dedication and creativity!

Parent Survey:

At Connally Junior High School, we value your partnership in your child’s education. This year, we introduced the Carnegie Math curriculum, which focuses on building critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and real-world applications for math. As we continue to refine and improve how we implement this program, your feedback is incredibly important to us.

We’ve attached a short survey to gather your thoughts about the curriculum and its impact on your child’s learning experience. Your input will help us better understand what’s working well and where we can make adjustments to ensure student success.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey by January 6th. Thank you for your time and for being an integral part of our school community!
