Connally Independent School District

Connally Early Childhood Center Update

Week of 4/14/2025 - 4/18/2025

Principal's Update:

Dear Parents,

Our annual Easter Egg Hunt is this Thursday. Pre-K will hunt eggs at 9:45 and kindergarten will hunt eggs at 10:30. The Easter Egg Hunt will take place on the football field. We ask that all visitors remain in the football stands. Kona Ice will be available after the egg hunts are over!

On Monday your child will bring home ordering information for the Bugtussle Lane candle fundraiser. This is another great way to help support our school while getting some great-smelling candles for yourself!

Don't forget that this week is a four day week. There will be no school on Friday, April 18th due to the Easter holiday. We will see our students back on Monday, April 21st!

Academic Tips!

Last week's tip was to read, read, read. This week's tip is write, write, write! In both pre-k and kindergarten it is so important to practice writing skills. The most important thing at this age is that students learn to listen to the sounds in the words they want to write, and to write the letter that makes the sound they hear. It will not always be spelled correctly at this age, and that is totally normal! So, give your kiddos a piece of paper and a writing utensil and let them go for it. Praise them for trying and expect that it won't be perfect! As they develop, correct spelling will come.

The first picture below is a pre-k student's writing. You can see that she attempted to spell the word "colors." The second writing sample belongs to a kindergartener. You can see that this student is putting space between words, incorporating punctuation, and writing more than one sentence. This is what we want our kinder students to be doing by the end of kindergarten!

Special Recognitions!

We would like to recognize our pre-k and kindergarten student who had perfect attendance and no tardies during the month of March! They earned a Sonic gift card to enjoy. Next we are proud to recognize Ms. Lexi Brandt as our most recent Feature Teacher. Lexi is a para in one of our ECSE classrooms. Finally, congratulations to this little one for great behavior!

Attendance

The best way to get your child off to a great start is to make a commitment to have them at school every day. Good attendance is a strong predictor of future academic success. We are busy every minutes of the day in Pre-K and Kindergarten with learning and we do not want your child to miss out on anything!
