Connally Independent School District

Connally Early Childhood Center Update

Week of 3/3/2025 - 3/7/2025

Principal's Update:

Dear Parents,

This week we will be celebrating Read Across America week. We will celebrate by having several guest readers in the building reading to our classes. There are also fun dress-up days each day for students and staff.

This Thursday, March 6th, is an early release day. CECC students will dismiss at 11:30 am. There will be no school this Friday, March 7th, and then the following week, March 10th-14th, is spring break! We will see our students back in the building Monday, March. 17th!

I would like to encourage all parents to ensure that your children get to school on time and are at school every day. Teachers deliver so much valuable instruction that sets your children up for success in upcoming grades. We don't want them to miss out on anything!

Have a wonderful week!

From the Counselor

During March we will be learning about the character trait of cooperation. One way to think about cooperation is “working together to reach shared goals.” As a family, talk about how this definition applies to how you work together at home. What are some goals you share? Cooperation is one of three traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students be kind.  Have some fun connecting as a family this month while practicing cooperation! Here are three ways to practice:

1. This week, plan a time where everyone needs to work together to accomplish a shared goal like cleaning up the space you live in or making a meal together. Make sure everyone has a role to play with specific tasks. When the project is complete, discuss and celebrate how each person’s part was important to the end result.

2. Review cooperation as a family! Search through your cupboards for some board games your family has not played in a while, or grab a deck of cards for a simple game of Go Fish. Pop some popcorn and have fun playing together! Look for moments of cooperation that you can point out. For example:

● Choosing which game to play

● Choosing who gets to go first

● Handling wins and losses

● Working together to solve a problem

3. Find a time to sit in a circle together and celebrate all the ways you have seen each other practice cooperation. Take turns sharing responses to the following prompts or make up your own! Remember to practice cooperation as you take turns and listen to each other.

Celebration Prompts:

● Which family member(s) do you want to celebrate for their cooperation this month?

● Share how you practiced strong listening this week.

Academic Tips!

Kindergarten has been learning how to write persuasive texts. An idea to practice this skill at home is to ask your child to write a couple of sentences persuading you to buy them a new toy or to take them to a special place such as the water park!

Pre-K students are learning how to create and extend patterns. This is an example of what they have to be able to do on their assessment. Patterns can be easily practiced at home with various items.

Attendance

The best way to get your child off to a great start is to make a commitment to have them at school every day. Good attendance is a strong predictor of future academic success. We are busy every minutes of the day in Pre-K and Kindergarten with learning and we do not want your child to miss out on anything!
