Connally Independent School District

Connally Early Childhood Center Update

Week of 3/24/2025 - 3/28/2025

Principal's Update:

Happy Monday, CECC Families.

Last week we enjoyed watching our sweet pre-k students sing a few songs at their program. When a group of pre-k children get together to sing, it's cute no matter what! We also enjoyed having pre-k grandparents in the building for lunch. This week we will welcome grandparents of our kindergarten students for lunch on Tuesday!

If you have not had a chance to shop at our book fair, you are invited to stop by and shop before or after school. Shopping during the grandparent lunch is another great opportunity to get some great books for your children!

This Friday will be our second Intervention Friday for the 4th nine weeks. Only specified students are required to attend.

On April 2nd our kindergarten students will be taking cap and gown graduation pictures at school! To help our girls, please do not put hair bows in the hair as it makes it difficult for the cap to stay on! Kinder teachers will send out more information about pictures this week.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.

This is our last week to focus on the character trait of cooperation!

Academic Tips!

One of the kindergarten expectations is to spell words using sound-spelling patterns. An easy way to practice this at home is to dictate words for your child to spell. While making dinner, have your child sit at the able with attempt to spell the words you say.

One of the pre-k guidelines is to produce letter sounds. A simple way to practice this skill is to call out various letters and have your child say the sound that the letter makes. This can be extended by asking your child to then say a word that begins with the sound.

Special Recognitions!

This week we would like to recognize kindergarten teacher, Laura Ochoa, and behavior assistant, Greta Holtzclaw, for being selected as our latest Feature Teachers. They are both amazing employees who help our students grow!

We would also like to recognize the below students for having no tardies and no absences for the month of February! They earned Sonic gifts cards for their great attendance.

Attendance

The best way to get your child off to a great start is to make a commitment to have them at school every day. Good attendance is a strong predictor of future academic success. We are busy every minutes of the day in Pre-K and Kindergarten with learning and we do not want your child to miss out on anything!
