Connally Early Childhood Center Update

Week of 2/17/2025 - 2/21/2025

Principal's Update:

Dear Parents,

We had a very fun week this past week celebrating the 100th Day of School and Valentine's Day. There were lots of little old ladies and gentlemen spotted in the building. Students participated in many fun activities related to the number 100, and some of them even earned a trophy for being able to count to 100! It is always a great day when parents can join us in the building, so thank you for coming to the Valentine parties.

This week spring pictures will take place on Tuesday. Students will take both individual pictures and class pictures so dress nicely! Another fun thing happening this week will be our annual visit from a Dairy Farmer! Students will get to see a cow being milked and learn all about that.

Check out the academic tips below. The more exposure they get to pre-k and kindergarten skills at both home and school, the better prepared for the next grade our students will be!

Have a wonderful week.

Academic Tips!

One of the most important things we want our kinder students to be able to do before leaving kindergarten is to be able to read. They read in small groups with their teachers but the more you can read with them at home, the better off they will be. Email your child's teacher and ask about resources you can use to help your child progress in reading at home!

Pre-K students are continuing to work on recognizing the beginning sound in words. An easy way to practice this is to say a word and have them tell you which sound they hear at the beginning of the word, and then have them name the letter that makes the sound. This is another easy thing to do in the car! As in the image below you can also show them pictures of items and have them identify the beginning sound.

Special Recognitions!

This week's Feature Teacher is Mrs. Desiree Sosa. Mrs. Sosa is a wonderful pre-k teacher. She currently teaches our bilingual learners and does an excellent job! Congratulations, Mrs. Sosa!

Attendance

The best way to get your child off to a great start is to make a commitment to have them at school every day. Good attendance is a strong predictor of future academic success. We are busy every minutes of the day in Pre-K and Kindergarten with learning and we do not want your child to miss out on anything!
