Connally Early Childhood Center Update

Week of 12/9/2024 - 12/13/2024

Principal's Update:

Greetings, CECC Families,

This week we are very excited to watch our amazing kindergarten students perform a few Christmas songs on Thursday evening, Dec. 12th from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm. This event will be held in the auditorium at Connally High School. Immediately following the event, all families for pre-k and kindergarten are invited back to our campus for Literacy Night! This event is also full of fun such as icing cookies, writing letters to Santa, and even taking pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus! Pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus may be purchased for $1.00 each. We will only accept cash payment for the pictures.

If you do not follow our CECC Facebook account, we invite you to do so. We try to keep that page updated with all upcoming events, and we also post lots of pictures of students involved in activities at school as well as pictures of students demonstrating their academic skills. We have posted a few of our kindergarten students reading recently! Following our social media is a great way to get a peek into what your kiddos are doing at school.

Class Christmas parties will held next week on Thursday, Dec. 19th. See below for the specific time of each party. We ask that no more than two adults attend per student due to space limitations. If you choose to take your child home after the party, you will be able to sign your child our with their teacher.

Have an amazing week and we look forward to seeing everyone this Thursday evening!

From the Counselor

In our December guidance lessons, the focus is on empathy. One way to think about empathy is understanding and connecting with other people’s feelings. Empathy is a practice that can help us grow strong relationships. Empathy is one of three traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students be kind. Throughout the school year, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.

Review empathy as a family! Schedule a family movie night so that you can specifically watch for feelings and emotions. Let everyone know that you’d like them to point out how the characters in the show are feeling and that you will pause periodically to discuss empathy. As emotions are identified, invite one another to empathize by sharing about a time they felt that way or imagining how they might be feeling in that moment.

Attendance

The best way to get your child off to a great start is to make a commitment to have them at school every day. Good attendance is a strong predictor of future academic success. We are busy every minutes of the day in Pre-K and Kindergarten with learning and we do not want your child to miss out on anything!
